Sweetwater Community Planning Group
The Sweetwater Community Planning Group’s mission is to maintain the integrity of the Sweetwater planning area as a semi-rural community with unique topographical, ecological, historical, recreational, and cultural characteristics.
The guidelines followed are from Part XIII of the Sweetwater Community Plan, San Diego County General Plan (revised 2005), GPA 04010, and the Sweetwater Design Guidelines from the County Board of Supervisors (May 1991). The SCPG reviews issues concerning community character, land use, housing, public facilities, conservation, recreation, scenic highways, seismic safety, open space signage, and noise.
The Sweetwater Community Planning Group (SCPG) serves as an advisor to San Diego County Planning and Land Use. It also provides an opportunity for members of the public to speak to the SCPG on any subject within the Planning Group’s purview but not on the agenda.
Presentations are limited to three minutes. Action can only be taken on items from the currently published agenda. Other actions can be placed on a future agenda. Copies of the agenda are posted monthly at the Bonita-Sunnyside Fire Station and Library at least 72 hours before the meeting. If there are no action items, a meeting is not held.
The SCPG consists of 15 members. Vacancies are filled by election or appointment. Applications are available from the County by contacting Cheryll Jones, Planning and Sponsor Group Coodinator, at 858-694-3816.
We welcome all residents to our monthly meetings and appreciate community input on any issue that impacts the Sweetwater Valley. We are fortunate to have had ongoing support from Supervisor Greg Cox and his staff even though we are only an advisory group. Harriet Taylor and Sheri Todus are the current co-Chairs of the SCPG. We hope to see you at an upcoming meeting.
