
The Sweetwater Valley Civic Association Shares an Invitation for Cherished Member, Jim Woodford’s, Services
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Jim’s family moved to California’s San Fernando Valley when he was nine months old. He was the oldest of five children in his family. He attended Monlux and Coldwater Canyon Elementary Schools, Sun Valley Junior High School, and North Hollywood High School. He graduated from San Fernando Valley State College (now CSU Northridge) in 1964 with a degree in electrical engineering.
Jim retired from San Diego Gas & Electric in 2006, where he was a power contracts administrator. Jim has always enjoyed volunteer activities. He served on the Vestry of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Head Usher, Chalice Bearer and Lector. Jim also served as a Charter Representative to the Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop.
In retirement, he became very active in the Kiwanis Club of Bonita, where he served as President and Secretary and the Kiwanis representative to the San Diego School of Performing Arts Key Club. He also enjoyed serving in the Bonita Senior Volunteer Patrol. Jim was also a member of the Sweetwater Valley Civic Association.
Jim met Pat at a church youth group. Married in June of 1960, Jim and Pat celebrated 62 years of marriage. They lived in Van Nuys, Saugus, and Valencia, CA. They moved to Bonita in 1979 and from Bonita in 2021 to the Covenant Living at Mt. Miguel retirement community in Spring Valley, CA, where they continued to enjoy many activities in addition to traveling.
Jim was the ever-supportive “wind beneath our wings” to Pat and their children. Jim is survived by his wife, Pat and Children, Stephanie Woodford de Vos (David) and Bruce Woodford (Gina), as well as grandchildren Amanda & Abby de Vos and Andrew & Daphne Woodford. He was predeceased by his son, Douglas Allan Woodford. He is also survived by 3 siblings.
