Notice for SVCA March 1st Meeting

Notice for SVCA March 1st Meeting

Please join us for the upcoming Sweetwater Valley Civic Association March 1st Meeting.

Dear SVCA Members and Community Members,

Happy March! This is looking like another busy month for us all. This meeting should move along expeditiously since we will not have a guest speaker.

I have been working to coordinate a meeting between Bonita residents and the CHP and Sheriff’s Dept to reach a set of resolutions that will help with our ridiculously high number of traffic violations that go without consequence.

The CHP office is getting a new commander or person in charge and we need to give him/her at least a week or two to get settled before having a meeting.  Therefore, we are tentatively planning for the evening of March 14th in the Library Community Room and I will confirm this date soon.  I have asked for this meeting to be with people far enough up the food chain to make actual changes in how our community is served.

March 1st Agenda Snapshot:

  • Treasurer’s report for March 2023
  • Fire Safety News and Information from Fire Chief Mike Sims and from Sheriff’s Dept Julio Garcia
  • Elected Representative Reports: Andrew Harvey from the office of Supervisor Nora Vargas (outstanding issues to include: No Overnight Parking along Plaza Bonita Rd, no commercial truck parking along San Miguel Rd., split rail fencing repairs along Sweetwater Rd south of Quarry and along Chula Vista Golf Course, semi-trucks now parking along Bonita Rd across from Starbucks)
Amanda Angulo from the office of Chula Vista Mayor, John McCann
Mayra Hernandez from the office of State Assemblymember David Alvarez (80th District)
Thomas Lawton from the office of State Senator Stephen Padilla (18th District)

New Business:

  • Update on School Art Contest funded by NRG Program
  • Announcement for special traffic safety meeting with SD County Sheriff and CHP

News from the Community Forum:

  • Traffic and Roads—Mike Clowers
  • Sweetwater Community Planning Group—Stephen Stonehouse
  • Sr. Volunteer Patrol—Jim Woodford
  • Membership—Sharon Coleman
  • Trails—Mark Kukucheck
  • And other announcements/concerns

Please come to our meeting and let us know what is on your mind, and what we can do to make our community better.  If you can’t attend, please email your concerns for me to look into.

I hope to see you all at our March 1st meeting.
